Craving Some Chicken?

By: Pablo Guerra

Craving some chicken, but do not have the time, effort or patience into cooking your own meal, and nutrition is not a priority for you? During the summer, Palmdale has been receiving a string of new restaurants, one of them being Chick- fil-a. Despite the company’s runs with controversies (The owner, a devout southern baptist, openly expresses his opinion that marriage should only be between one man and one woman),  chick-fil-a is doing fairly well, being the second largest fast food restaurant that specializes in chicken (second only to KFC, and surpassing McDonald’s in the average sales per restaurant ($2.7 million per restaurant as compared to $2.4 million at each McDonald’s).If cheat day is coming up for you, and you are craving some fast food,Chick-fil-a is not a bad choice. Chick-fil-a for the uninformed individual is a fast food chain known for one thing and one thing only: chicken, more specifically, chicken sandwiches.
Chick-fil-a has an assortment of items in its menu, most, if not all, including chicken (of course) and Has a decent selection of their signature dishes, chicken sandwiches.

Chick-fil-a Original Chicken Sandwich

Chick-fil-a’s signature dish. Inarguably the most basic sandwich related item on the menu. It is just one breaded, deep-fried chicken breast with some pickle slices on a plain, boring looking hamburger bun. There is no sauce, no lettuce, no special Chick-Fil-A-750components, no anything. the fact that this sandwich is the basis of a company that had made 5.1 billion dollars in revenue in 2013 is astounding.

Though the sandwich looked ugly and boring, it quickly compensated for its looks. The pickles had a nice crunch to them and tasted like…..pickles. The seasoning in the bread was good, but nothing absolutely amazing by any means. The chicken itself was the best part- it was very moist, juicy, and tender. In a nutshell, chick-fil-a’s flagship recipe was as expected of a fast-food chain- very tasty, but with little to no nutritional value.

Chick-fil-a Grilled Chicken Sandwich

The chicken was super juicy and perfectly grilled. The lemon flavor is light, but the herb seasonings are a little too heavy and almost bitter at points. but the excessive  herbiness is a little off-putting.

The multigrain bun offered the same texture as a regular bun, with a spongy softness that whole-grain buns usually have. it tastes like a multigrain bun, nothing out of the ordinary.

The lettuce and tomato were surprisingly fresh and crunchy for a fast food meal. Overall, Chick-fil-A’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich was good, but not a fan of the overbearing herb seasoning they went with though.

Chick-fil-a Chicken Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich  It tastes like a deep fried chicken breast and pickles put on a buttermilk biscuit.Absolutely nothing surprising or out of the ordinary at all.

If your are in the mood for fast food, Chick-fil-a is not a bad choice.
