Girls Golf Swings Up

Bianca Rios

Fore! Get ready for girls golf 2016. After several seasons of declining participation (last year there were only two golfers on the team), the Highland girls golf team is looking up, as it adds a new round of female athletes to the roster.

HHS Math teacher Mr. Londono ,the girls JV/Varsity golf team coach was a “golf professional” and taught many people how to play, so learning will be no problem for this team.

The team currently has five girls and is continuing to look for more. Their first match is September 1st, and will be against three schools : Quartz Hill, Littlerock, and Antelope Valley. The match begins at 1:30 pm at Crystal Air Golf Course. If you have plans to go support our girls golf team, they have a match every week this season.

Uniforms and equipment are free of  fees and without expenses. You do not need to know how to play because you’ll have a pro to teach you! Practice is everyday and always starts at 3:30 pm, varying between the Desert Air Golf Course and the Antelope Valley Country Club.

Current golfers are Melody Garcia, Adrianna Rosales, Arlene Salvador, Isabella Smith and Yllianna Velador.

To join, just visit the athletics office and fill out an athletic packet.
