It’s been a long, tough dysfunctional 2016. The election, and accompanying social media drama and anger that dogged it, has made many of us feel that there is nothing to laugh about or take joy in. Time for a little lighthearted happiness at the movie theater, courtesy of a dysfunctional–but lovable–family story.
Almost Christmas is a holiday film about a retired man named Walter Meyers, played by the talented Danny Glover, who loses the love of his life and one year later invites his whole entire family over for the holidays. For FIVE days.
He believes it will be a Christmas miracle if the whole family can spend a week together one last time before he sells the family home. Well, we all know what happens when we place family members in tight quarters for long periods of time. Something less than harmony.
This movie is a very funny movie because it combines the comedy skills of J.B. Smoove and DC Young Fly. Other cast members include Gabrielle Union, Romany Malco, Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps and Mo’Nique.
If you want to see a funny holiday film, I recommend Almost Christmas.
