Kiwanis Student Of the Month

Ayanna Cuevas

Students who demonstrate an outstanding academic performance and are involved in their community are honored with the KIWANIS Student of the Month Award. The students who have portrayed these characteristics for the month of January are Shannie Pico and Alexander Chew. Congratulations to both deserving students!

When inquired about how she felt about winning the award, Shannie Pico stated,” Mainly surprised because I thought only one person could get it but afterwards I felt special…the award to me was more meaningful in comparison to other recipients because I am the Key Club president,”. Key Club is associated with KIWANIS and Shannie Pico hopes to earn the Distinguished President’s Award. This award is presented to three Key Club presidents who will be awarded either bronze, silver, or gold. She also collaborates with the Hero Club in certain projects.

Both students are in the California Scholarship Federation Program and are valedictorians. They were also both nominated to be Pacesetters. Again, congratulations these accomplishing students!
